Summer 2009 masthead

Fluffy wisteria, you take my breath away. Love the play of light and shadow. Love the Provence.

Pretty straw bags and baskets, bowls and tin signs out on the street to entice passersby. Such bright and sunny colors, an optmistic look toward Summer!

The Zillertal had some rainy days, but we were able to hike, boulder, and pluck fresh blueberries in between burns. Fun times.

Climbing in the Frankenjura has been an incredible experience. We watched the landscape turn colors with the changing of the seasons, which was a first-time ever for a Southern Californian like me. Climbing in such beauty, what more could we ask for?

I don't know why we didn't come earlier to the Provence; it is beautiful. It doesn't hurt that the climbing at St. Leger and Baume Rousse is world-class. We spent many hours walking through tiny cobbled streets, taking countless charming pictures.

It was already warm in early January when we went climbing in Geyikbayiri, near Antalya, in Turkey. We were isolated in the Taurus mountains with other climbers, in our tiny huts, every day for two memorable weeks of pulling on limestone.
