March! Oh, how time flies. I've worked on quite a few projects, but sorry to say that I can't possibly blog about some of them, at least the ones with NDAs attached. But someone else has been very, very creative, so I'll blog about his work instead:
Dordogne River View (2011)
Frank Eber
Watercolor on paper
I'm proud to say that this traditional landscape of the Dordogne was accepted into the American Watercolor Society's 135th Annual International Exhibition! Not only that, it was given the Alden Bryan Memorial Award and medal, and it will be part of the coming year's Travel Show. We. Are. So. Excited!
Come April 3, we're heading to New York (en route to Europe!) to attend the opening reception. If you're in the area and interested in seeing some great watercolors, please drop by the Salmagundi Club at 47 5th Avenue in Greenwich Village. The exhibition begins at 1pm, and we'll be there from 6pm onwards.
Merindol-les-Oliviers (2011)
Frank Eber
Watercolor on paper
Sold
I love the sheep here, don't you? There are more olive trees and vineyards in the area, actually, but an idyllic pastoral is always a lovely thing. (And why paint something verbatim when you can add or subtract elements and make it unique?) Merindol is one of those little villages off the main road, accessible by the narrowest roads. If you're not a villager you really just drive by it, but we didn't. We stopped by the side and fed horses sugar cubes, and petted errant dogs, and took pictures, and admired the view. On a clear day you can see kilometers and kilometers everywhere (south to Ventoux, to orient yourself), and we promised ourselves that one day we'd go back.
And in April, we will.
PS: Did anyone else see that FABULOUS Cartier commercial on Sunday night?
Some weeks ago, Holly of Knitted Thoughts gave me a Stylish Blog Award. Thank you, Holly! Yummy Yarn, stylish? Who'd've thought?
One of the prerequisites to this award is sharing seven things about myself, and to make this more specific, I made it seven stylistic things:
On to knitting. Here's my current project at 5, then 9 repeats of pattern. It's calming knitting, something to help wind the day down. This past week was quite busy!
It also helps that I know Antalya like the back of my hand. Every stitch, every short row turn, every loop picked up, all executed from memory. All that remains is grafting, and I'll probably wait until Shannon has finished the knitting part on hers; then we can have ourselves a little grafting par-tay!
I also signed up for Twist Collective's February Finish Fest, because I do need a little prodding with my knits. While I have an endless list of projects lined up in the coming months, a bit of reminding and egging on by the group should help, hopefully, with finishing the ones already on my needles. Care to join?
