The purl stitch.
I quickly completed 5 "elements" in about 10 minutes, using symbols from charts I'd made in the past. It occurred to me that there should be some system of qualification, so I've started it here. Purl is a basic stitch. Something like k2tog-tbl would be an intermediate stitch, or combination of stitches, or a technique.
I'm refining it as I go along. (Also on Flickr.)

I love these. I can see them as playing card size with instructions on the back for each stitch. I will also comment on Ravelry where I am smokeyblue.
Thank you for such a great inspiring idea.
Namaste,
Susan
Would the next few be
Slip 1
Make 1
Yarn over (or would this be the same as M1??)
Of course you would have
K2Tog
P2Tog
PSSO
on another row
i love that you're doing this! i can't wait until the whole table is done. i would love to print it out and put it up in my knitting corner. :)
Oh excellent (so is the typeface one). I can't wait to see how this turns out. Especially to see which stitches end up in the "too ridiculous to be real" row down on the bottom by themselves. The Einsteinium of stitches.
Although, having just looked at the Periodic Table, I guess the uninomseptinium (or whatever) are the really crazy ones. I don't remember those from Chemistry.
Brilliant!
