Eye Candy Friday: Another Quilt

| | Comments (17)

Is it heresy that this knitter is posting about quilts when the East Coast knitblogging contingent is converging at MDSW this weekend? :-)

Temple of Charm

The thing about quilts I've found more satisfying than knits (horrors, such blasphemy) is that you get a finished object in less than half the time. This quilt? Took me four weeks. Total. (Uh, Wendy put your hand down.)

Temple of Charm

Cold temps earlier in April provided me with the perfect excuse to throw this on top of our comforter. The Polar Bear I live with didn't complain for once. Maybe he's getting used to having a stack of quilts piled at the foot of the bed?

Temple of Charm

Yes, it's more Amy Butler squares. More, more, more! This time around I'm using fabric from her Temple Flowers and Charm collection. These came from eBay, part of a huge set that included Ginger Bliss, Belle, and Gypsy Caravan. I lucked out on that particular auction. eBay is pure eVil.

Blogworthy: May 3
1: According to Wikipedia, on May 3, Chicago's Sears Tower became the world's tallest building, Margaret Mitchell's Gone with the Wind won the Pulitzer Prize for Fiction, and Niccolò Machiavelli was born.
2: According to my mom and dad, I was an easy delivery. Little did they know!
3: According to my brother and sister, I was a surprise. And then they proceeded to torture me for the next 30+ years.
4: May 3 is Discoflux day. Meh. It sounds better than it is, doesn't it?
5: It's also Tres Chic Veronique's and Poke You With My Sticks Liz's birthday! Go wish them (belated) birthday wishes! Happy Birthday to us all!!!

Love the fabrics you've used in the quilt.

Oh, lovely! When I first learned to quilt, I decided it's much easier to use fabric that's already made than to make your own out of string. For several years, I put knitting aside. But one always returns to a true love.
Happy birthday!

Quilting is fine. Good to have more than one string to your bow. Don't let anyone tell you that you're doing anything wrong by dabbling in other types of creativity other than knitting...
