Lastly, as Mary-Heather suggested, I stuck a note under Gnome's beard: "Caught you looking!" This is going to BF's mom, hee hee!

Project notes for knitting this gnome *in the round* follows...

I decided to knit Gnome #2 in the round because it involved less seaming and less fussiness with the smaller bits. For the body parts, I increased my needle size to US3; this allows for a firm fabric that is still tightly woven enough so as not to let the (white) stuffing show through. I also decreased the needle size to US7 for the beard. The first gnome's beard was a bit sparse, and I wanted fullness. I left the selvage stitches in.

Once more, please don't ask me for the pattern.

Head and Body: Knit in the round per instructions.

Boot and Leg: Using a provisional cast-on, cast on 11 stitches. Work 2 rows of stockinette stitch. Unravel provisional cast on; you'll have 22 stitches. Work increases, boot front shaping. Shaping the top of the boot was fiddly. I did a 3-needle bind-off and knit that last stitch together with one of the remaining stitches. There was still a hole in that area afterwards, so I went around the row with one of my dpns, tightening the stitches around the hole to close it, and distributing the extra yarn along the stitches on that row.

Arm and Mitten: I knit this body part from the mitten up. Again, a provisional cast-on, then knitting straight until the thumb, casting on stitches for the thumb, 3-needle bind-off, then knitting straight for the rest of the mitten and arm. The only sewing involved was on the thumb cast-on stitches.

Hat: Knit in the round per instructions.

Nose: Too fiddly to knit in the round. Knit straight.

Beard: Fun fur on dpns? Nuh. Knit straight.

Hi,
Your gnomes came out great! I hope this doesn't count as harassment for the pattern. I tried to find a copy of the Simply Knitting magazine that has the pattern, but the publishers website lists them by issue number, not date. Can you let me know what issue number the pattern is in? Thanks.
