Body Parts

In general blog news: There is a San Diego Zoo panda weblog, people! Go there. Also, the results of the 2006 Bloggies are up, but all the blogs listed, winners and losers, are good ones. I've subscribed to a few new ones already.

I reknit the sweater body because I discovered I have curves, ho ho! The shaping is subtle, but it's there. Are you sick of this sweater yet?

I'm having neckline issues. How to finish this thing: standard ribbed neckline? Some form of collar? Shawl? Lapels? Big and wide lapels? Small and gently sloping?

A close-up of sorts on the ribbing. Can you see the twisted stitches inside?

I got so carried away with the Gedifra entrelac sweater, I want to make something with entrelac! Faina Letoutchaia's Forest Path Stole in Interweave Knits' Summer 2003 issue is a candidate; so is Kerry Shank's Snowdrift Stole from Blackberry Ridge, but I'd make it longer. I do have a spool of fine alpaca.... Which one would you make?

Have a good weekend. Knit a few rows, spin a few yards for me; it's freelance purgatory again.

Oh wow, your sweater looks so beautiful and neat! I adore the colour!

I am NOT tired of seeing your sweater! That ribbing is very refined! I don't have suggestions as to what to do with the neckline, other than say that overall it seems to be a classic style so anything to wild may look out of place. Can't wait to see it!

It looks good and you are smart to redo it so it will fit! Love the color.

Hmm, I was going to say Forest Path hands down since I enjoyed making it but after seeing Snowdrift I'm not so sure. If you want a bit of entrelac as well as more traditional techniques, then Snowdrift. If you want to really play with entrelac (more interesting entrelac at that), then Forest path.

I would say the Forest Path Stole. It has a more contemporary look. Plus I've been wanting to knit that for a long time, in fact the Zephyr yarn is my first ever overseas yarn order.

I'm not tired of seeing it at all either. It looks great! The color is just gorgeous.

I think either a shawl collar or somewhat cowl a la Knit and Tonic would look nice. Actually, lapels would look good too, sleek and not too big. My personal preference would be to not do a ribbed neckline because of the steep slope.

How could we be sick of seeing that gorgeous color?

But your entrelac question motivated me to de-lurk. I vote the Forest Path Stole; I think it has a cleaner look. I knit it last year and it was a lot of fun. (Pictures here: http://homepage.mac.com/amylherzog/Knitting/PhotoAlbum29.html)

I love the color! I actually really like a standard ribbed collar, especially on a v-neck. I can't wait to see it finished!

I like seeing it, it's a lovely colour :)
I'm sure whatever neckline you choose will be smashing.

Your sweater and website is beautiful!!

I think a thin, simple collar would be nice. Something more delicate than a regular ribbed collar.

Do the forest path stole! I have been trying to get my lace-knitter friend to make it, but she isn't giving in to my demands.

I agree with the commenters above, keep the collar trim simple, maybe just some i-cord edging? The deep lavender colour is beautiful, very Spring :)
