Go see Gunther von Hagen's Body Worlds: The Anatomical Exhibition of Real Human Bodies at the California Science Center. Nope, haven't seen it yet, but it sounds incredibly intriguing!

Also on the web: LAist.com, the L.A. version of popular Gothamist.com, although it should've been named "Angelist", in my opinion.

OMG! Talk about weird, I was discussing this just last night with a friend of mine... My favorite childhood book, C.S. Lewis' The Chronicles of Narnia is being made into a movie! (scroll to last item) It's being directed by Andrew Adamson, an Australian director from New Zealand who did Shrek and Shrek 2. I haven't seen either of those, but I've heard from basically everybody that they're both GREAT movies. So I hope he'll do a good job with this. I wonder if the movie will be based on the first book (The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe) or if it will be on all...

I love those books too, But "The Lion, the Witch , and the Wardrobe" isn't the first book in the set. It is actually "The Magician's Nephew," which tells about how Narnia came to exist. I think the movie would be great but a series of movies (a la Harry Potter) would be fantastic, because each story would make a great movie.

Woot!! This is my year for movies, first I find out that my favorite book (A Confederacy of Dunces) is being made into a movie (starring Drew Barrymore!) now I find out that one of my favorite childhood books is being made into a movie! Now all I need is someone to make a movie out of the BFG and I'm set!

not to be picky but Andrew Adamson is a New Zealand director AND it's being filmed in New Zealand too (like lord of the rings was). I had to point that out as Australians are always stealing New Zealand actors/directors/movies and claiming them as their own. It's a bit of a Canadian vs American thing down here. One doesn't like being mistaken for the other.

Kiwi Jay, thanks for the clarification, and my apologies for the horrible mixup on countries. I've fixed the entry.
